What are your rates?
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation before our first session. After that, if we choose to continue our work together, 50-minute individual sessions are $200.00 per session.

What states do you serve?
The Porch Swing KC currently provides virtual therapy services for clients located in Kansas and Minnesota, including Kansas City, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding communities.
Virtual therapy allows clients to access support from wherever they feel most comfortable while still receiving personalized and consistent care.

Do you accept insurance?
The Porch Swing KC does not accept insurance. There are several benefits to private pay — primarily, a greater level of privacy and control over your treatment. When a therapy session is billed through insurance, the insurance company often requires detailed documentation about your mental health including a diagnosis and updates regarding your progress. Some clients I work with do not meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis and some would prefer to have the details of their mental health treatment separate from their insurance/medical record. Further, insurance companies often limit the number of sessions they will pay for and restrict the therapeutic techniques which can be utilized during the treatment process. Depending on your benefits, private pay rates may be lower than insurance co-pays. Please check with your insurance provider for specifics.

What if I still want to use insurance?
The Porch Swing KC is an Out of Network (OON) provider, which means I am able to provide you with a monthly Superbill detailing the payments you have made for therapy sessions. You may be able to submit this document to your insurance company for partial reimbursement of therapy services. Please contact your insurance company directly for information regarding your eligibility and reimbursement rates. Please be aware that a mental health diagnosis is required to be provided to your insurance company for reimbursement if you utilize this option.

How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy allows clients to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of home using a secure online platform. Sessions are designed to feel just as connected, intentional, and personal as in-person therapy, while offering added flexibility and convenience.
Many clients find virtual therapy easier to consistently prioritize because it removes commuting, scheduling stress, and the pressure of trying to “hold it together” before walking into an office.
The Porch Swing KC provides virtual therapy for adults in Kansas City, the Twin Cities, and surrounding areas navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, and emotional overwhelm.

Is virtual therapy actually effective?
Yes — research consistently shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout, and relationship concerns.
For many people, online therapy also creates a greater sense of comfort and emotional safety because sessions happen in familiar surroundings.
At The Porch Swing KC, virtual therapy is intentionally relational, warm, and personalized so clients still feel deeply connected and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

What can I expect during the first therapy session?
The first therapy session is a space to begin slowing down and sharing what has been feeling heavy, overwhelming, or emotionally exhausting.
There is no pressure to have everything perfectly explained.
